As the revived Canadian Annual Review enters its twentieth year as the definitive record of Canadian political developments, it comes under the editorship of R.B. Byers who collaborated on the 1978 edition with John Saywell, the Review's founding editor since 1960.Complied by a corps of Canadian scholars and experts, the Review records and appraises the year's events in Parliament and politics, in the national economy, and in external affairs in a section entitled 'The Federal Perspective;' a second section entitled 'Provincial and Territorial Perspectives' deals with political and economic developments in each of the provinces and territories. An introduction to each section by the editor draws out the main themes and issues.Authoritative and eminently readable, the articles can be read consecutively for interest and information, or they can be spot-read with ease to locate particular information. A subject index and a name index greatly facilitate ease of reference.
