A study of the sociopolitical factors which led to the overthrow of the French-Italian government and of the establishment of Austrian control in the Napoleonic kingdom of Italy in 1814. Specifically addresses the conditions of the kingdom before being conquered, the causes of the Milanese revolution, the existence of liberal and national sentiment in northern and northeastern Italy, the relationship and influence of Allied Powers, and the dissatisfaction with the Habsburg government in Venetia.
