Nicht nur offizielle, gültige Abkürzungen, auch alltagssprachlich gebräuchliche und früher benutzte Formen werden in alphabetischer Reihenfolge berücksichtigt. Während Reihe A die Bereiche Politik, Geschichte und Soziales erfasst, behandelt Reihe B die Themen Ökologie, Umwelt und Geowissenschaften. This publication contains acronyms from a variety of disciplines and walks of life; not only officially acknowledged abbreviations, but also out-of-date forms as well as those in general everyday use. The main part with supplementary annuals for the years 2000-2006 have over 1 million entries. This extensive database is now being updated and indexed for individual fields of science and areas of society.
