Mit Trübners »Deutschem Wörterbuch« (1939–1957) widmet sich die Studie einem umstrittenen lexikografischen Werk, das einst als Nachfolger des Grimmschen Wörterbuchs anerkannt war und ab 1945 schrittweise in der Bedeutungslosigkeit versank. Doch auch heute noch werden Artikel aus den hier untersuchten ersten vier Bänden des Wörterbuchs herangezogen, um die Verflechtung von Lexikografie und Nationalsozialismus in den 30er/40er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts zu zeigen. Dem Ausmaß der nationalsozialistischen Einflüsse, der Art der Verflechtung von Lexikografie und Nationalsozialismus und den Ursachen für den Akzeptanzverlust dieses Wörterbuchs wird bei der Beantwortung folgender Fragen nachgegangen: Sind die Wörterbuchartikel nationalsozialistisch geprägt und deshalb nicht mehr tragbar? Liegen in der Entstehungsgeschichte Gründe für die Anfechtbarkeit des Wörterbuchs? Ist die Struktur des Wörterbuchs für heutige Benutzer noch geeignet? Die Rekonstruktion der Publikations- und Rezeptionsgeschichte und die Analyse der Makro- und Mikrostruktur sowie die Untersuchung ideologischer Komponenten in den Wörterbuchartikeln ermöglichen die Klärung der Entwicklung, die dieses Wörterbuch genommen hat, und erhellen die Veränderungen in seiner Bewertung. |

The study is devoted to a dictionary that has aroused considerable controversy, although it has never in fact been exhaustively investigated. Of especial interest are the first four volumes (analyzed here), in which there are appreciable indications of the influence of national socialism on German lexicography in the 1930s and 1940s. The nature and scope of these influences are determined via reconstruction of the history of the dictionary’s publication, analysis of its structure, and investigation of the ideological elements discernible in the entries. The reasons for both the appreciation and the rejection of the dictionary thus become identifiable. |
