For several years now, one can clearly witness a "new renaissance" in the study of the thought of Thomas Aquinas (1224-1274). Among the many attempts to deal with the heritage of Common Doctor, there is one particular type of reception which tentatively starts to play its role, namely Biblical Thomism. It seeks to understand and employ the praxis of theology (sacra doctrina), as exemplified primarily by Thomas Aquinas, and the pivotal role of Scripture in such a speculative engagement with Revelation as a way to overcome the typically modern separation of speculative theology and biblical exegesis. Towards A Biblical Thomism. Thomas Aquinas and the Renewal of Biblical Theology seeks to develop further this particular type of reception of Thomaswritings and shows how his thought can bear fruit upon our understanding of Christ and our moral life in particular.
