Traces the movement of cotton textile wages in Great Britain and the United States from 1860 to 1945. Examines two aspects of the wage problem: differentials between workers of high and low skills, and differences between wages in different regions of the two countries. Also addresses the historical influence of the two world wars and the influence of highly organized British trade unions as opposed to the largely unorganized American workers.
