This study investigates a problem of Sanskrit grammar, namely, the conditions underlying some peculiarities in the forms of Vedic feminine stems in -ya-. Cardona compares the form with Latin perfects of the type dixit ("said") and concludes that the traditional distinction made between major and minor processes of sound change is untenable.
