This third edition substantially expands on the theory of eventfulness, which now fills an entire sub-chapter. The chapter on “narrative perspective” has been amplified with a section on the highly contemporary topic of “perspectival structure.” All chapters have been critically reviewed with some revisions and updated commentary. Throughout the work, references to more recent publications have been inserted.
