This monograph presents the establishment and history of the Jerrahi, a Sufi tariqah that derives from the Halveti order and was founded by Nureddin al-Jerrahi (d. 1720) in Istanbul, and its musical culture until the Republican period. Music is a key aspect of their worship and rituals as it is seen by the development of dervish lodge music and the many musicians and composers that belonged to the Jerrahi order and whose lives are presented in this work.
