Die Artikel enthalten neben den Lebensdaten einschlägige Angaben über die soziale und regionale Herkunft, Schul- und Universitätsbesuche sowie über die berufliche Laufbahn. Die meisten der erfassten Beamten finden sich in keinem anderen biographischen Lexikon. Ausgewertet wurden unter anderem Bestallungs- und Prüfungsakten. Jedem Artikel folgt ein knappes Literatur- und Quellenverzeichnis; This biographical handbook contains 3650 short biographies of administration and justice officials working in Prussian provincial and central public authorities between 1740 and 1806/15. Apart from dates of birth and death, the entries contain pertinent details of the subjects' social and regional origins, their school and university attendance and their professional careers. Most of the officials listed cannot be found in other biographical dictionaries. Data evaluated include files relating to their appointment and examination. Each article concludes with a brief index of literature and sources
