Die Beiträger_innen dieses Bandes bringen die Disziplinen zusammen und zeigen das Diaphane als Begriff, der die Bildlichkeit der Architektur in den Fokus rückt. Dabei diskutieren sie auch die Frage, wie Architektur und Bild sich grundsätzlich zueinander verhalten und liefern kontroverse Antworten; The medium that makes things visible - this is how Aristotle described the diaphane (to diaphanês, the transparent). In 1927 Hans Jantzen used the term for the Gothic cathedral, and ever since then it has been making its round through the fields of philosophy, media studies, theory of architecture, history of art and film studies. The contributors to this book link the different disciplines together, presenting the diaphane as a term that puts the imagery of architecture into focus. Simultaneously they also discuss the question how architecture and image principally relate to each other and offer controversial answers
