This volume marks the 65th birthday of Hans-Henrik Krummacher and contains 17 articles on poetry in German from the 17th century to the present, with special reference to poetry in the age of Goethe and in the modern era. The range of approaches extends from hermeneutically oriented studies on individual poems through overviews of developments in specific epochs to proposals for a theory of lyric poetry.
