Themes include reconsiderations of priorities and policy objectives by the governments in the region since the American defeat in Indo-china in April 1975. Other topics examined are the nature of Soviet activities, the non-alignment movement, offshore petroleum resources and ASEAN-EEC relations. Additionally, in relation to individual countries, contributions span discussion on the vicissitudes of UMNO politics, the nature of the Pertamina crisis and prospects for democracy in Thailand.
