520			_aDie Beziehungen zwischen dem niederländischen und deutschen Sprach- und Kulturraum sind seit jeher durch die vielfältigen historischen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Berührungspunkte sehr eng. Die niederländische weltliche und geistliche Literatur des Mittelalters war besonders reich und wirkmächtig. Seit Jahrhunderten entstehen zahlreiche Übersetzungen niederländischer Literatur ins Deutsche. Sie wurden nicht nur von vielen bedeutenden Autoren getragen und gefördert (u. a. Hadewijch und Heinrich von Veldeke), sondern boten für die mittelhochdeutsche Literatur oft überhaupt erst die Brücke zur altfranzösischen Dichtung (Epik um Karl den Großen). Diese Bibliographie dokumentiert nun erstmals umfassend die Rezeption der mittelniederländischen Werke in der deutschen Literatur bis in die heutige Zeit. Als Beitrag zu einer Geschichte der europäischen Kulturbeziehungen erlaubt sie einen ganz neuen Blick auf die Dynamiken des Transfers früher niederländischer Literatur ins deutsche Sprachgebiet. Für die Erforschung der Geschichte der europäischen Literatur- und Kulturbeziehungen ist die Bibliographie ein unerlässliches Grundlagenwerk.
520			_aSecular and sacred Dutch medieval literature was particularly rich and influential. It was not only supported and promoted by many important authors (incl. Hadewijch and Heinrich von Veldeke) but also often provided the bridge for Middle High German literature to Old French literature (epics around Charlemagne). This bibliography is the first to provide a comprehensive documentation of the reception of Middle Dutch works in German literature up to the present day. As a chapter in the history of European cultural relations, it affords a completely new view of the dynamics of the transfer of early Dutch literature into the German language area.
