Er enthält den griechischen Text der sechsten und siebten Sitzung und die Schlussdokumente des Konzils in Gegenüberstellung mit der ebenfalls erstmals kritisch edierten lateinischen Übersetzung des Anastasius Bibliothecarius von 873. Die beigegebenen Apparate erschließen nicht nur die handschriftlichen Grundlagen der Edition, sondern führen auch Quellen- und Paralleltexte (darunter Zitate aus der nicht erhaltenen ersten lateinischen Übersetzung) sowie moderne Forschungsliteratur an. Die sechste Sitzung enthält mit der ausführlichen Widerlegung des bilderfeindlichen Konzils von Hiereia (754) den zentralen theologischen Text der Akten, die siebte Sitzung die Glaubensdefinition des Konzils und die Unterschriften der Bischöfe. Es folgen die kirchenrechtlichen Beschlüsse (Kanones) des Konzils und postkonziliare Dokumente. Ausführliche Indices erschließen den Inhalt des Gesamtwerks.
