Die in diesem Band gesammelten Beiträge gehen dieser Frage aus archäologischer und literaturgeschichtlicher Perspektive nach. Dazu werden sämtliche gegenwärtig verfügbaren epigraphischen und ikonographischen Befunde ausgewertet und die einschlägigen alttestamentlichen Texten aus den Büchern Exodus und Richter und den Psalmen literatur- und religionsgeschichtlich analysiert. Eine Einführung in die Forschungsgeschichte sowie grundsätzliche religionswissenschaftliche Überlegungen zu den Anfängen der Verehrung einer Gottheit runden den Band ab. | ||
