520			_aDie griechische Biographie der hellenistischen Zeit stellt eine Gattung dar, die trotz der Bemühungen der letzten Jahrzehnte noch immer unzureichend erschlossen ist. Der Grund hierfür liegt vor allem im fragmentarischen Zustand der Werke. Der vorliegende Sammelband vereint die Vorträge eines internationalen Kongresses in Würzburg im Jahr 2006 zu diesen Schriften. Neben zum Teil erstmaligen literarischen Portraits einzelner Autoren finden sich in diesem Band Untersuchungen über Vorformen der Gattung und die Wechselwirkung mit anderen zeitgenössischen Literaturformen sowie Studien zur literarischen Technik und Motivik der hellenistischen Biographie. Die Aufsätze stellen einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Erforschung der hellenistischen Biographie dar und zeigen deren Bedeutung im literarischen Kontext ihrer Zeit und für die erhaltenen Biographien der Kaiserzeit.
